O-tsuyu has spent her whole life in Suruga province, working diligently alongside her family of tea farmers. Though her life may be simple, she loves her village. However, when the mistress of a popular relay station tea house scouts a new server to assist her downstream, O-tsuyu is chosen and must move there, working as her waitress.
Plagued with rumors of the "scary" tea house mistress waiting for her, O-tsuyu isn't sure what to make of her situation or why she was chosen...but she hopes to make her village proud.

Having barely spoken to each other, Doona is surprised to discover that her sister has been experiencing the same strange phenomena she has: hearing the distant soombisori of their grandmother whistle to her from the ocean waves.
Materialistic Mai is always looking for the next best thing when it comes to Western Fashion. One day, while out thrifting, Mai encounters a shop owner wearing a beautiful jade bracelet. Though the woman agrees to sell it to Mai, she warns her of the great responsibility it carries.
When Mai gets transported back to 40AD Vietnam at the behest of the mythical Chim Lac, she begins to understand just how large that responsibility is.
On August 8th, 1942, Mahatma Gandhi's "Quit India" speech lit a fire inside of Usha that could not be extinguished. Called to the freedom movement after Gandhi's arrest, Usha rallies together Printer, Babubhai, and fellow activists to start an unlicensed broadcast.
When thousands begin to tune in, Deputy Inspector Ferguson and Imperial Police begin to catch onto their transmission. Can Usha keep the fight for freedom afloat in the airwaves or will she face defeat?
Modern day doctor, Francis Kwok-ping Wong, is a staunch believer in the facts. When his associates notice his declining condition from overworking, they suggest he visit a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner. Though he considers it a "hack science", he gives it a shot.
But...when Francis finds himself transported back into the Han Dynasty, he realizes that "hack science" may be his only ticket home. Will Francis be able to compromise his beliefs to find balance between the two, or will he be stuck in his old ways, forever?
